Horry County GOP co-chairman and former mayoral candidate Ed Carey is running for a seat on the Myrtle Beach City Council in the November election.
Carey filed his paperwork Wednesday as Hurricane Dorian was approaching the Carolinas.
All three incumbents are seeking reelection; Mike Chestnut, Phil Render, and Mary Jeffcoat.
Former Councilman Wayne Gray is also in the race, along with realtor John Krajc and Charles Gasque.
Carey faced incumbent chairman Dreama Perdue in the Republican Party election earlier this year.
After a recount, the election was declared a tie and both Perdue and Carey are serving as co-chairs.
The Myrtle Beach election is a non-partisan race.
