Candidates for county council, Congress, to appear at Carolina Forest Civic Association event

Candidates competing in the upcoming Republican primary election and at least one Democrat will appear at a candidates’ forum during the Carolina Forest Civic Association meeting this week to talk about their accomplishment and future goals.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the HCPR Carolina Forest Recreation Center/

Candidates scheduled to appear include Horry County Council Chairman Mark Lazarus and his opponent, Johnny Gardner.

Also, Horry County Councilman Bill Howard who represents District 2, and his opponent Dean Pappas.

Horry County Councilman Johnny Vaught will appear. His Democratic challenger in the fall election, Dick Withington, has not confirmed whether he will attend.

Larry Guy Hammond, who is challenging U.S. Rep. Tom Rice in the Republican primary, will be there. Rice cannot make it, but is sending a representative to appear for him. Also, Dr. Bruce Fisher, who is running on the Democrat ticket for Rice’s seat, will also appear.
